Might be a few years out but I'm gonna say Scott Gennard to fit that description?

Re: Senior Cup Draw
Yes to all of the above.
I remember Matt Richards now, I used to drink in some of the same pubs as him at that time - the captain of the reserve team that won the league under Steve Shilvock was a mate of mine and we would speak to Matt if we saw him.
Scott Gennard was similar but a bit later and I think went into management with Rainworth MW.
And Matt Martin was bloody hopeless...

Tut, tut, YD. Even I know that was Scott RICKARDS.
Scott Gennard was with Lye for a while, may still be in fact. Played against us in a psf a couple of years back, putting himself about in central midfield.
A very different lad from the gangly striker who came through our Youth Team and played for us in our 1999/2000 relegation season under Micky Guest. Scored one of my favourite Stour goals - equaliser five minutes from time in a 1-1 home draw with Sutton that season.

Yes TRM, Scott Gennard very different from Matt Richards and was still playing in the Lye midfield towards the end of last season.

And David Bayley was working for Steve Shilvock around the time he scored that WIC goal. Steve was at our house the next morning talking about it.
Scott Gennard played under John Chambers at The Grove during season 1999/2000, Matt Richards was in seasons 1993/4 & 1994/5

Re: Senior Cup Draw
Ah, that makes much more sense.
When Gennard was a kid, my neighbour had something to do with the set-up at his junior side - not Stour as I remember it, but I may be wrong (again). He scored bucketloads of goals and was of interest to the Villa and a few others, but clearly never "trained-on".
Having done a bit of kids football, there are so many who score 3 every week and never quite get there - when I were a lad it was Steve Field who got hundreds of goals for Halas Hawks. The less said about his spell with us, (1 goal in 11 appearances) the better...

Re: Senior Cup Draw
Three generations of the Field family have played for the Yeltz. Can any other family's match this?
