Re: Going south?
I met a Stourbr*dge fan before the FC game who told me that they would definitely be Northern next year, as there is a rule in place that prevents you being moved leagues in consecutive seasons. Any clarification on that is welcome.

Re: Going south?
That's what has always been said. I've never seen it written in the rules but it's generally accepted.
I think it strengthens our case to stay in the North as they may well still want to keep us together.

Re: Going south?
The way it way explained to me was that if a club moves, it would not be moved again in the next 3 years without its prior agreement. We will have completed 3 seasons in the North at the end of this season.

Re: Going south?
Apparently Kings Lynn want a move to the Southern League as well by the way. We'll have to just see what happens.

Kings Lynn have always preferred to be in the South for some reason!BBNOW100 wrote:Apparently Kings Lynn want a move to the Southern League as well by the way. We'll have to just see what happens.

Re: Going south?
Not true. Individual clubs have negotiated themselves such promises in the past - Hednesford and Worcester spring to mind as specific examples - but there is no "rule."piearce9 wrote:I met a S*******dge fan before the FC game who told me that they would definitely be Northern next year, as there is a rule in place that prevents you being moved leagues in consecutive seasons. There are too many unknowns at the moment to do anything more than speculate wildly:
1. Which three teams come down from Conf North?
2. If Stamford are relegated (looks possible on form - especially when you consider they won their first five games!) then it will leave King's Lynn VERY isolated, and ripe for a move EVEN if one isn't needed (Redditch to the NPL Prem?).
3. If Bedworth were to win the SL Central play-offs they would come into NPL Prem reckoning, being close to Barwell.
One thing I would say is that I would be very surprised if they split us apart having gone through hoops last Summer to put, and then keep, us in the same Division after what went on with Worksop. I would say if one of us goes South, we both go South.

Re: Going south?
Over the last 5 minutes of this morning's Non-League Show podcast, there is discussion on reprieves to clubs at the Premier level of 3 Leagues.
The podcast is available at:

not sure we're any the wiser.....

Re: Going south?
Hereford are deemed to be one of the relegated clubs from the SLP, so only three will be relegated from there.
Then there will be another reprieve due to Salisbury folding (CS has run "one short" this season). That will be the club in 21st place in the NPLP, ILP or SLP based on points per game. At the moment the NPLP is leading the "race" for that reprieve.
And of course, you never know what might happen between now and the League AGMs - who saw Worksop's resignation coming last Summer?

Re: Going south?
It now looks likely that at least one of Leamington or Brackley will go down from the Conference North, thus meaning we will stay North.
Possibly only 3 new away trips next season e.g. Salford, Darlington and Hyde.

Re: Going south?
Hurrah!
I'm hoping for Darlo to win the league and Spennymoor to sneak through the playoffs for a North East double, but be very happy with just one of them up (or indeed just staying in the Northern Premier - been much better for me!)
