Looks like their phoenix club may end up back in the park.

It's the desolate new ground in the middle of nowhere that they moved to, as opposed to the pitch in the park with the old geezers taking down the advertising hoardings after each match.

Two things spring to mind about their new stadium - a 12 year old steward tried unsuccessfully to throw me out after a somewhat free range attempt at urination from yours truly (I'm so proud...) and the bus trip to the ground being enlivened by two pigs in a field engrossed in "making bacon".

Funny the things you remember... Precious times....
Is that the year of Jimmy the Hoover? Or when Sid broke his wrist whilst driving the bus - sat upstairs? ;D

Precious times.

Always a good trip to Salisbury, usually started by spending far too long in the Wyndham Arms drinking Summer Lightning direct from the teat.
I can remember us all running through the park one year, only for Sprout not to notice a low chain-link fence and take a spectacular nose first dive, ploughing up half an acre of Wiltshire's finest turf.

And who can forget Evran's hat-trick, completed in the last second (that Summer Lightning made me lose the sense of time left) when we were 2-1 down............

Not 1996-97 apparently. My press cuttings show we were still using the earlier version of the shirt as an away shirt early in the 1996-97 season (see Andy Bradley in the report from 26th August 1996). This suggests our mystery shirt was the away shirt from 1997-98 onwards at earliest.

I originally thought we’d changed to the newer shirt in 96-97 because there’s an anomaly to be spotted here. The Southern League sponsors changed from Beazer Homes in 1995-96 to Dr Martens in 1996-9 (after Max Griggs’ Rushden promotion). Our earlier 95-96 collared shirts had a Beazer Homes logo on the left sleeve (well mine does anyway). Part of this Beazer logo can still be seen on John Snape’s left arm even though Beazer were no longer sponsors for that season.

And just to confirm the earlier posts, Hamer Ford took over as sponsors in 95-96 from Dave Berry and this squad photo shows the first appearance of black/yellow as the AWAY kit for 1995-96 – photo taken outside Hamer Ford, dated 3rd August 1995.

So, we can say it was the change shirt in 97/8 and 98/9.

Top work all around.
