When I have been struggling to stay upright in the mud when walking the dog and yesterday struggled with a wave effect caused by the wind on my Bovril, isn't it amazing we have had decent football at all?! My guess is that we need lots of warm sunshine on the pitch and for it not to be played on for a few weeks. This won't happen. The team could have resorted to hoof in the air tactics but have not and we have gratefully shared their frustrations, rather than blamed them. Well done to all on getting pitches playable, trying to keep the ball on the grass or mud and for some at times better football than we watched for years -even over the festive period when some of us also struggled to chase the dog, never mind a football.

Personally, I think you should keep your dog off the pitch. Try Uffmoor Woods or Clent - much prettier.

Been to watch Stoke Ladies v their WBA counterparts at the Grove today.

Obviously, coming less than 24 hours after we played on it, and no chance of preparation, the pitch was as we left it yesterday.

No disrepect to Ladies football, but there isn't much football played, however, it was cutting up quite badly towards the end of the game.

Not sure when Causeway, or indeed the ladies play on it again before we take on Ilkeston, but no doubt there will be a few training sessions.

I think its time we looked to organise a regular pre match working party to try to ensure the pitch is maintained as best we can.

Stoke won 2-0 by the way #UpThePotters ;D

Surely, the easiest solution is to reduce the number of games played ?
No amount of work pre-match work is going to rectify the damage sustained in the week previous to a home game.
We are in the Northern Premier and we have a responsibility to provide a playing surface that befits that status.
At the moment we are failing both home and opposition players. Someone has to see that this is going to reach a point where either the pitch will fail inspection or a visiting team will refuse to play on it.
Let's have some common sense take over from the desire to bring in revenue.
We cannot carry on like this.

Totally agree with lutleyyeltz. No premier league pitch could take the amount of games/training sessions that Halesowen town have on there pitch, and thats even with there unlimited cash etc spent on it. I know its revenue for the club but something has to give and it shouldn't be the pitch. I know money talks but i would of thought having a pitch to be proud of would be good for the club, and that also could attract the better players. Spending money on the toilets or the pitch??? I cant believe its even been mentioned!

Totally agree. Unfortunately though at any level of football, irrespective of finances, the work has to be done and the grass given chance to become healthy and strong (above and below the surface) weeks before a ball is even kicked. The damage can only be temporarily 'patched up' once the season has started. We have to accept what we have now will not be able to be much repaired for the rest of the season. With so many games on it I can only take my hat off to the hard workers that we have a pitch at all. I'm afraid serious money needs to be thrown at it AS SOON AS the season ends.

But they ( and we) still use the goalmouths before the match and at half-time!

This has been commented on ad nauseum. Nobody takes any notice - or cares, presumably.

I don't think anyone is saying money should be spent on the toilets instead of the pitch. The toilets are only been mentioned because the club have received sponsorship money for these.

Which beggars the question - why haven't the toilets received attention?

I pay attention to them every game - it's that cold at the moment. ;)
