I can only assume they lost players after promotion, as no team could do consistently as badly as they have done otherwise, but it's not easy to find much analysis about their appalling form. One can only guess that any fans must be completely disillusioned or apathetic.

They concede an average of 5 goals per game and it's worse than that if you discount August when they only conceded 10 in 4 games.

If we thought Kempston were bad, then the match on Saturday should be on yet another level to that.

Things are on the up for the ever plucky Freds!

After 28 minutes on Boxing Day, they were 2 - 0 up away to local rivals Kidlington in front of a bumper Bank Holiday crowd of sixty.

Sadly, near-normal service was resumed after that, however they did almost hold out for the draw, only succumbing to an 87th minute winner for Kiddles.

Still, only a limited amount of damage was done to the goal difference - for a change.

So close and yet so far from only their very first point of the season
