Depends if the decisions have been made on sound medical science, research, data analysis and risk assessment then I guess its justified, if it hasn't and effectively been plucked from the sky then you would be right it would be a load of boll@cks

One of the issues is that deep tissue examinations on the brains of current players is rather difficult as physical evidence seems to only be available post mortem.

There is certainly been a lot of research in NFL and rugby as to the cumulative effect of collisions and that is what heading the ball is - a controlled collision
