Hughes suspension

Post by andy » 14 Nov 2018, 08:14

Why wasn't lasts nights BSC game counted as one of his 3 games? I'm sure all Senior Cup games used to count. Maybe my memory is playing tricks. ::)

According FA site, his suspension is for "Saturday football only" for the period 10-20 Nov
Not come across this category before, it is usually first team football for n days or n matches in xx competition.

Its still 3 matches for a straight red, and the Brum Senior isn't included in this anymore. So it's Prescot, St Ives and Barwell as long as they go ahead.

Isn't it quite staggering that the county FA place so much importance on their cup that they can cancel league games, but their own parent body don't rate it as a competitive game :o

You're right. And I'm still fairly sure they used to count. I seem to remember the SSC and the WSC counting as well. What's this Saturday only rule, if it was applied to the Premier League some teams wouldn't have a suspended player for months on end!

It doesn't mean Saturday only. It means competitions deemed as normally on a Saturday. League. Fa Cup. Fa trophy. Fa vase etc
Ssc and WSC didn't count after about mid 90s. You had to nominate one senior cup as a tournament to take up suspensions. And we always nominated BSC.
I also don't believe it's the counties choice to do this if you read in to it.
