Rearrange a fixture?

Post by juanillo » 29 Sep 2015, 13:54

It's been pointed out elsewhere that Buxton are in the FA Cup on October 10th, so could the club rearrange one of the two forthcoming Tuesday games instead - either Nantwich at home or Stamford away.

It's international weekend on the 10th, so there will be no matches in the Premiership or the Championship and there would be the likelihood of a bigger turn-out as well as being better for players and fans.

Nantwich already play Hyde at home on the 10th October.
Rushall may not be playing Blyth on the 10th if they win their replay tonight at home to Corby Town. So Blyth is a potential fixture home or away.

As it stands (before tonight's replays), that only currently leaves certain teams available for us to play:-

Colwyn Bay away
Ilkeston home or away
Matlock Town at home
Ramsbottom United home or away

I'm sure the Evostik will do their best, they're the best run non-league organisation when it comes to midweek fixtures. We've had at the most 4 or 5 what you'd class as 'medium' to 'long' journeys since we switched four seasons ago. FC United and Stamford last season from memory. Sheffield FC in our championship winning one. And I'm forgetful of any others in my old age!

Thanks for the great research. Yes, I was forgetting those teams may already be 'spoken for', but it would make sense on that weekend to play when there's no prem or championship local matches.

After the replays, Blyth are now at home to Sutton Coldfield on 10th October, so it's looking like no fixture.

I have to say, I know Non League day is good for increasing the gate, but the fact is we'd be competing for the neutrals against an FA Cup match down the road, and I'd imagine most floaters would go there........... with the amount of fixtures in October (down 1 to 8 fixtures now including 6 home matches) and a November 'only' currently containing 5 fixtures (Trophy dependent), I'd think the management would be happy for a free Saturday.

We have asked to play Matlock at home on the 10th instead of playing them on a Tuesday in January as even with cup games on we would get a better crowd on a Saturday than a cold Tuesday in January.
One team will get a Saturday off so we will have to see what they say!
