Let me start by thanking JH for giving me the opportunity to work with this great club. People have asked me if I am bitter with JH, my answer has been “how can you be bitter with somebody for taking away your opportunity, if that same person gave you it. You have to be given something in order for it to be taken away”. I know more than anyone how much work, time, and constant effort JH has put in and is continuing to put into HTFC. I have trusted him from day one, and if JH truly believes that replacing me is the best thing for HTFC to progress to the next level then I can accept that and move on without any malice at all. What can’t be taken away though are my memories, HTFC fans and supporters are amazing. There is a closeness between fans and management that I have never encountered before. A BIG THANK YOU goes to all the people below (in no order) Dave for the photos my mum is so chuffed, Stoksey & Guesty for their sponsorship, Sandra for feeding me, Ben and his team for Yeltz TV, Sheila’s wheels and Asa my drinking buddy.
Funny memories, seeing JHs face at Mickleover, when all the fans had his picture on their T-shirts (priceless), Spiderman making an appearance at Blyth. The wolf man dancing in the changing room.
Special moments Tonksy’ late goal against Loughborough, Curtis 85 yd against S****bridge, Ben (the pirate) goals against Belper, 1748 crowd at home, these will live with me forever. Rob’s T-Shirt (let’s get ready to rumble) and a Halesowen stalwart through and through.
Thanks to all the team and management and a mention for Watto – I had to phone the revenue to find out how many jobs somebody could have before they paid tax – goalkeeping coach, reserve keeper, outfield player and coach driver, Clubman of the year nailed on.
I wouldn’t change anything in the time I had because you can always learn from it, I have reflected and I have a saying “if you do favours for people they appreciate it, if you then continue to do the same favours on a regular basis they expect it and then they mistake your kindness for weakness. Looking back I think I did too many favours and took my eye of what my role was when I joined the club.
Finally Colin B, Sandra, Andrew, JH and Kev the coach can now leave on time not Tricky Time (ha, ha). Tricky has now left the dug out……………….
