Football on the Telly

I'm surprised that there has been no mention on here of our old friends from Warrington who will be on BBC 2 tomorrow in the FA Cup 1st Round.

We beat them on our way to our way to Wembley in 1986 over three very hard fought games, the reply at Bucks Head, Telford being one of the finest games I have ever seen The Mighty Yeltz play. It may have been over extra time. What a night!

Please don't get me wrong, WTFC never gave up and had a fine midfielder (captain?) by the name of Gordon Hunter. He would have more than graced our Blue.

Any further info Brother Chas?

I would most like to wish them well tomorrow and thank them for one of my finest ever football memories.

Wow - life changing info hidden in there.

I'd always though we signed God from Lye, was it really Rowley United (whom I've never heard of and it seems we've never played)?

According to the 1951 County Express I read today, Rowley Utd played in the Oldbury League then.
(That was on the page opposite one that had a headline "Funeral of Mr. C H Shakespeare of Laurel Lane" - I quickly checked I'm still alive ;) )
