I think it's really sad, just left to rot especially Kettering Towns Rockingham Road stadium, there for over 100 years then no more, can't imagine there being no Grove, wouldn't be so bad if it was to play in a new modern stadium but to share with someone else it's gutting ! It's why my passion for non league football has rocketed over the years, just feel closer, more involved and with that for me more feelings towards Halesowen Town F.C ! Long live the Yeltz !

I'm told that there is a book launch tomorrow by a local author and the book content is "lost football and cricket grounds of the Black Country."

The only downside is that the event is at St*******ge Cricket Club! ::)

I'll endeavour to find the author's name and the official title of the book - if anyone is interested.

Ken, don't bother trying to source a picture of the better half of the city, your computer couldn't take it.Image

The book is on sale at "The Black Country Bugle" shop in High Street, Cradley Heath (nearly opposite Tesco).
Adrian Goldberg did a piece on it on Radio WM, this morning.

Armitage Town (?) ground (whom we used to play) is now a nature reserve/ education centre for disabled people.
The rail round the pitch is still there; along with the converted club house / dressing rooms but the pitch now has 25ft high trees. They do a lot of good work there I believe - called something like C.H.A.D.S.

Chas, any records or news of The Mighty Sanitary Wares? :)

Westy I remember going there for an early saturday morning kick off.I took my nephew, a young Mark Russell so it would about 35 years ago. Next to the pitch was afield of tall grass of some kind, over 5ft. tall. My lasting impression is of HARRY RUDGE keep disappearing into the field and out of sight, to retrieve the ball which continually kept getting kicked into the tall grass. "Wheres it gone KENNETH? Did yo see where it went? I think it may have been a cup final day. LLL ? "H" smoked all my fags that day as well.
